Early life trauma and neglect, also known as developmental trauma, can occur from conception to age 3. Memories from trauma and neglect in early life are held in implicit, often referred to as unconscious, memory. These memories are usually experienced and felt in the body. Pictures and images of the events may not be present as they usually are with trauma that took place later in life.

This treatment approach has been specially modified from the standard protocol of EMDR in order to prepare and meet the needs of those who have experienced early life trauma and neglect. It helps you develop the necessary resources and skills to access trauma processing, which can otherwise become overwhelming using standard protocols.

The 4-step process improves emotional regulation while reducing both emotional as well as physical distress. It can also improve your sense of well-being and support you in developing a more positive self-concept.
